A Guide to Memorial Day Sales

Sales can be tempting... especially when there are sales at every store for a holiday weekend. When you see all these sales, sometimes you buy things that you don't necessarily want or need because of the discounts. Then you're stuck with pieces you don't love and never wear. Or you end up spending a lot of money because you are sucked into the sale mindset. SO the best way to approach holiday sale shopping is to go in with a plan. Know what exactly you are looking for. So here is a list of pieces you might be looking for, and my favorite places to get them!

Jeans

I have been on the hunt the past few days for new jeans after ripping my favorite pair. Jeans can be really hard to order online because every brand runs differently. But if you know brands you like and how they fit this is a great time to order some new pairs because of all the sales. I have a couple different stores I have been looking at to order some new pairs. Some things I look for when buying new jeans: comfort (aka how much stretch they have), sizing (do they run big, small, true to size), and reviews (a MUST!). Here are some jeans I am currently eyeing.

  • Levi's (30% off)

  • Madewell (25% off)

  • Abercrombie (20% off)

Cute Tops

You can never really have too many cute tops. I consider a cute top one that can be worn to work or out to dinner. Throw it on with your favorite pair of jeans and you have a good outfit. The idea behind a cute top is that you throw it on and you're done- no fuss needed. A one and done kind of top is the best in my opinion! I have been seeing a lot of basics in these sales but not a ton of nicer tops that aren't button downs. Here are a few I have seen and like.

  • Madewell (25% off)

  • Evereve (70% off clearance)

  • Revolve (65% off)

  • Abercrombie (20% off)- graphic tees..pair with blazer to elevate it

Dresses/ Rompers

An easy, breezy dress is a must have for summer. Days when it's so hot out you can't even think about pulling on a pair of jeans. I consider a romper the same category as dresses because its the same idea- easy, put it on and you're dressed! Add a cute pair of sandals during the day and add a jean jacket and heels for the evening. That's the beauty of a good dress/romper- it's a day to night piece that you can change up the accessories and you look fab! Here are some stores I've seen some cute dresses and rompers on sale at.

  • Free People (50% off)

  • J.Crew (30% off everything, 60% off sale styles)

  • Mango (30% off)

Toppers

Toppers are anything you are wearing over your outfit- from a blazer to a cardigan to a jacket. If you live anywhere that has seasons, you need all different kinds of toppers in your wardrobe. Cardigans are great for casual outfits with jeans, or to throw over a dress at night. Blazers are a perfect way to elevate a graphic tee or tank for everyday or going out. Jackets are just a must have for when the weather is a little chilly. So if you are in the market for any new toppers, here are the places where I have seen cute toppers in the sale section.

  • Nordstrom (60% off)

  • Evereve (70% off clearance)

  • Abercrombie (20% off)

Accessories

This is a very broad category. This includes jewelry, shoes, and bags! Some stores have a really great selection of all things not clothes. I smushed all these categories together because in these holiday sales there are usually more clothes on sale than accessories and shoes. But that being said, I did see some fab pieces in all these stores!

  • ASOS (25% off)

  • Revolve (65% off)

  • Shopbop (50% designer sale)
