There really are no rules when it comes to fashion, so it can be hard to know if you are making fashion mistakes. A fashion mistake means you are not wearing things in the most flattering way or are spending too much on things you shouldn't be. It can be really easy to make fashion mistakes so today I am going to talk about some mistakes you could be making without even realizing it! These mistakes are all super easy to fix, and will make you more aware in the future so you can look your absolute best!
1. Not Tucking in Your Shirt
This is one of the easiest fashion mistakes you can make- not tucking in your shirt when you should. The reason this is such a big mistake is because tucking in your shirt, even just a front tuck, makes your legs look longer and gives you a defined waist. Most of the time if you don't love how an outfit looks a quick front tuck will instantly make you look put together. Tucking in your shirt can make you look thinner (and who doesn't want that). If your shirt is longer than the pockets on your pants, it usually means you should at least front tuck to give your body shape and definition!

2. Wearing the Wrong Length Pants
Where your jeans hit on your ankle is super important! Wearing the wrong length pants can make you look shorter than you are and can make your legs look stumpy! You want to look chic and put together, so pants that hit in the correct place is important. There are certain kinds of pants that should be long- specifically wide leg and bootcut pants. Skinner and straighter leg jeans should be hitting around your ankle bone to look the best that they can! This length is also important because shoes will look better with your pants when they're the right length!

3. Buying a Million Things Instead of Rewearing
This is a big mistake that a lot of people make. Thinking that you need a million different articles of clothing instead of knowing how to rewear and repurpose items. I am all for shopping and getting more clothes, but it's important to buy things that can be worn a ton (unless its a special item). Having clothes that are versatile and that you can rewear all the time is more important than buying tons of cheap clothes that you'll only wear once. Clothes are meant to be worn in different ways, so get creative and find some inspiration from new places instead of wearing items once and buying more!

4. Splurging on Pieces you Won't Wear
This obviously does not apply to special items and outfits for events. Instead of spending tons of money on super flashy and trendy items that are going to go out of style quickly, invest in basic pieces. A lot of people don't realize that the trendy thing they're buying is going to go out of style fast and then they will be stuck with that article of clothing that they'll never wear. Instead, find nicer and higher quality basic pieces that you can rewear forever. These are pieces that will never go out of style and can be worn a million different ways. Basics are way better to spend more money on than something that you will buy and never wear again!

5. Not Dressing to Your Body Type
This is a big mistake that a lot of people make. Knowing your body type is so important!! You need to be able to identify the kinds of looks and styles that will look good on you and make you feel the most confident. Sometimes, an article of clothing will look really good on one person and not great on another and it is simply because of your body type! Dressing to emphasize your own body will make you feel better and more confident. Being able to dress to your body will also help when it comes down to what will look best on you. You will know what parts of your body you want to show more of and what will make you feel the most confident!
