Accessories are truly the finishing touches on any outfit. You can get dressed and still not feel totally put together without accessories. Since accessories are such an important part of getting dressed in a perfect outfit, I collected some of my favorite ways to add accessories in any outfit! Accessories can be super simple and flow with the rest of your look, or they can be bold- a pop of color or a pattern- to add that extra bit of interest to your style!

This is an accessory that is super simple, but makes a big impact. I am loving the look of a fun bag strap. It not only brings some attention to your bag, but it creates interest in your whole outfit. Bag straps come in tons of colors, patterns, and sizes. The thing I love most about a bag strap is it feels like you have a whole new bag without having to actually spend the money. Bag straps are a way to spice up your already existing bag situation, especially when making an old bag feel brand new. The perfect way to not only add some excitement to your outfit, but to make your bags feel cool and modern!

Funky Necklace

A funky necklace is totally up to your own interpretation. I think of it as a really bold, colorful, or chunky necklace. I think funky necklaces are a great way to fill up the space on your neck and to bring attention up to your face. A funky necklace can also change the look of your entire outfit. It can take your look from boring to super cool and interesting. I am loving the look of a chunky acrylic necklace, half pearl half chain necklaces, and necklaces with a bold and unexpected pendant. Such an easy way to add color to any outfit too!

A Headband

There are so many different kinds of headbands that you can throw on with any outfit to make it look cool. I particularly love the look of a headband that is chunky and braided or has some sort of bling- like pearls. Adding a headband to your outfit also makes your look instantly more feminine. A headband is also a great accessory to add if you are hopping on a zoom call. This is the perfect way to add some pizzaz, while also looking pulled together. A headband is also an instant way to style your hair, so really this accessory is killing two birds with one stone!

Belts

You already know what a big fan of belts I am. I think they just really pull an outfit together and make you look more put together. Belts can be a neutral color, or they can be the focal point to your outfit. Wear a fun color or an animal print belt and it instantly makes your outfit look more wow. A style tip I have when it comes to belts is, if your belt is too long, knot it. Adding a knot to your belt, adds visual interest. Also, it makes you look laid back and cool. I love the look of a knotted belt especially on a dress or an otherwise boring look!

Big Sunglasses

This is one that I personally have a hard time with because I have a small head, but I think it looks incredibly chic on other people. A pair of big sunglasses is a great way to upgrade any outfit to make it street style appropriate. I love the look of a black or tortoise sunny because it is simple but effective. Sunglasses are not only a great accessory, but they are super practical for sunny days AND for days you just don't want to put on any makeup.

Scarves are a super cute and practical accessory that really upgrades any kind of outfit. You can make a big scarf into a cute top with jeans. You can wear a scarf as a belt to add some color and pattern into an outfit. You can also tie a scarf in your hair to make any ponytail or braid instantly elevated. My favorite way to accessorize with a scarf is one you have probably started seeing- tie it onto a purse. This is such an easy breezy way to create pops of color and interest on your bag.

This one might not seem like an accessory to you, but I guarantee this little makeup trick will add just what you are missing from an outfit. I love the look of a bold lip, especially with a monotone outfit. Wearing a bright lipstick brings attention to your face, adds color into your outfit, and gives off an elegant-without-trying feel. Pair a bold lip with a black tank, black jeans, and a fun heel and you have a perfect outfit to wear out at night. When wearing a bold lip I would keep the rest of the look fairly simple, so that the lipstick has a chance to shine.

Earrings are a super fun accessory to throw on. Earrings are a great way to spice up any outfit, and are so easy to change up to stand out. I love the look of a really bold/ colorful/ chunky earring, especially when you are wearing your hair up. Drop earrings, especially sparkly or colorful ones, are really impactful and make a difference in your whole look. I will say, if you are going to opt for a fun earring with an outfit, keep the rest of your jewelry simple. I don't love a bold earring and a chunky necklace together because they can sometimes fight for attention. Let your earrings do the talking, while completing your look!

I am a firm believer that a shoe can make or break an outfit. Shoes have the power to pull everything together, or make people wonder why you chose those shoes to go with that outfit. Sometimes, you just need a funky shoe. When I say funky shoe, I mean a bold color, an unexpected pattern, or a cool structured pair of shoes. When you are wearing a really cool and fun shoe, attention is drawn down, which ultimately makes your legs look longer. Funky shoes are the way to add color and excitement into an outfit. I love the look of an animal print with solid colors. If you are wearing blue, sometimes it just looks cool and unexpected to wear a shoe in orange! Cool, unexpected, but all goes together to create a seamless and chic look.
