With fall finally here, it means we get some of the cooler weather we have been waiting for. This means we can break out our sweaters and jackets for the new season! But fall also means a cold morning, a warm afternoon, and then a freezing night. This means you can't always just throw on a sweater or a jacket, because you will be cold then hot then cold again. The easiest solution? Layering. Layer your outfits so you will always be the perfect temperature! Here are some tips I have for making layering easier for this confusing weather.
Add a Layer Under Your Outfit
This might sound so simple, but adding a tank, tee, or turtleneck underneath your outfit is the perfect way to add a layer without all the bulk. Add a tank under a sweater, a t-shirt under a cardigan, and a long sleeve under your favorite tee shirt. This is a really easy way to stay warm while keeping the integrity of your outfit. Wearing one more layer will also keep you perfectly warm for those freezing moments throughout the day. Sometimes adding that other layer adds some modern chicness to your look. If you want to stay cool looking while keeping warm, add a button down under a sweater and have the collar pop out. This is a preppy but classic look. Or layer a jumpsuit over a turtleneck for a more preppy look! So many easy ways to layer while adding interest to your look!

Wear Two Jackets
This sounds a lot more uncomfortable than it really is! And this is a major trick for all those cold and then warmer days. When layering two jackets, I don't mean layer two puffers. You would be sweaty and so uncomfortable! I mean layer a lighter jacket like a denim jacket or leather blazer under a longer, sleeker jacket. Adding that second layer between your outfit and jacket looks really fresh and cool. It adds another layer, while building on the colors and textures in your look. This also gives you the flexibility to take off one of the jackets if the weather changes throughout the day. This looks incredible chic if you are walking around all day- wear jeans or leggings, a comfy pair of boots, a striped long sleeve, denim jacket, and a long camel coat. For a nighttime look, wear black jeans, booties, a long sleeve black top, a leather blazer and a long black jacket. A really cool way to layer that will make people look at you and think "wow, they know what they're doing"!!

Slip On a Scarf
Cozy scarves are great for winter when its freezing out, but not quite appropriate for this time of year. That's where a silky scarf comes into play. There are SO many ways to wear a silky scarf- as a headband, as a belt, and as a scarf. You can tie a silky scarf around your neck and tuck it under your shirt, and it looks like a turtleneck without the bulk. Another way to wear a silky scarf that looks super sleek, is to fold the scarf into a triangle, put the scarf around your shoulders with the top of the triangle on your back, and then layer on a jacket or blazer. This gives off the look that you are wearing another top or jacket under the blazer, without you having to do so! A silky scarf is also great for layering this time of year because it adds so many gorgeous colors to your outfit, without making you hot!
