Trends I Have Seen for Fall

After what feels like a long and hot summer, fall is finally coming! I am a total fall fashion girl- I'm a total sucker for boots and jackets- so I am excited. Stores are finally starting to get in some transitional clothing, which means we can start predicting some of the trends coming up for the new season. Some trends I have been seeing are totally being repeated from other seasons, while some are newer. You don't have to follow trends to look good and dress well, but sometimes it's fun to see what people will be wearing before they start wearing it! These are all trends I have been seeing on social media and by shopping around in tons of different stores!

1. Puff Sleeves

The puff sleeve trend is one that is a repeat trend. I have seen this as a spring trend, summer trend, and now a fall trend. Even though it isn't a new trend, I am a fan. Puff sleeves are a great way to add a little interest to an otherwise plain top or jacket. A puff sleeve doesn't have to be super exaggerated and over the top. A little puff goes a long way! This kind of sleeve looks really good on a short sleeve top, long sleeve top, jacket, or dress. The puff sleeve look is a winner because it is bringing balance to any outfit by bringing attention up to your face! I like the look of a puff sleeve top/jacket with a skinny or straight leg jean. A puff sleeve dress looks great with either a block heel sandal to make it sweet, or a combat boot for some juxtaposition!

2. Colors

When I say colors, I more specifically mean oranges, greens, and purples. Sure, there are other colors out there, but the big colors of the season are these. Whats great about a trend using color is that you can incorporate the color into your outfit in a ton of different and creative ways. The easiest way to incorporate orange, greens, and purples into your looks (especially if you are a fan of neutrals) is to add color in your accessories. This means nail polish, purses, shoes, jewelry, or even scarves. You don't need to invest in an article of clothing in a color that you will never wear again. Also, adding these trendy colors into the accessories makes them pop more, and adds that little bit of interesting that takes your outfit from cool to wow!

3. Animal Prints

This is a trend that never really goes out of style, but the kind of animal print changes. I have been seeing a ton of cheetah, zebra, and antelope prints for the fall season. I like to think of a good animal print piece as a kind of neutral to an outfit. What's great about animal print, is that piece of clothing - whether it's a cheetah print dress or a zebra print pair of pants- acts as the star of the outfit. This means you can keep the rest of your outfit pretty simple. Animal prints can also be added in little ways like a belt or a shoe! If you are someone who is more daring when it comes to fashion, if done correctly an animal print usually looks good with a touch of neon also! This is a fun trend that won't go out of style quickly!!

4. Fringe

Believe it or not, fringe is back. I have seen fringe on a number of different pieces that are now in stock for fall. Fringe on purses is a big one. Also on jackets (like a leather moto jacket or a denim jacket. I think the coolest way I have seen fringe this season though was on a sweater! It adds a special touch to your outfit to make it look chic and exciting, while also giving off a little bit of a boho vibe. I think fringe works really well when paired with some sort of leather to edge it up. For example, a fringe purse with a leather jacket. Or a sweater with fringe, a silk skirt, and a leather combat boot. Boho meets edgy to create a really unexpected but cool looking outfit!

5. Square Necklines

If you are a jewelry lover, this is a great trend for you! A square neckline, first of all, is really flattering on most people. It shows off your neck and a little bit of your collar bones which gives off a feminine vibe. A square neckline is a perfect opportunity to add necklaces to your outfit in a super fun way! You can layer a bunch of necklaces to fill up the space in your neckline, or you can go a little more funky and wear one bold chunky necklace. Either way, by adding a necklace you are drawing attention up to your face and filling up the empty space!! I have seen a square neckline on a lot of blouses for fall, as well as on dresses. This is a more simple trend, but it's everywhere!!

6. Color Blocking

This trend has been all over the place this year!! Whether it is color blocked jeans, a two tone dress, or a cardigan that is half pink and half red, this will be super popular in the coming season. Color blocking- when done right- looks really cool and can even look classy. I am a big fan of the color blocking when it is specifically done using only two colors and the left side is one color while the right side is another. It is interesting to look at and most of the time the colors are complimenting and pretty. When wearing color blocking, I would try to keep the rest of the look fairly simple. If you're wearing a color block jean, stick to a neutral colored top and shoe. Color blocked sweaters look good with a simple denim bottom. With a color block dress, I would stick to a shoe and a bag that are the same color (whether it is one of the color blocked colors or a complete opposite-like an orange shoe and bag with a blue dress).

7. Denim

I have seen denim and I have seen a lot of it this year. Denim shirts, dresses, jumpsuits, shoes- you name it. The beauty of this trend is that a denim is totally a neutral and can go with anything! The hardest aspect of this trend is trying to wear denim with denim. If you are wearing a denim shirt, I would stick to a white or black bottom. Denim with denim only really works if you are wearing totally different washes, and it is hard to make it look good (TBH). Denim shoes would look incredibly chic with a simple black dress. You can pair a denim jumpsuit with a fun color or animal print shoe! There are so many ways to get creative when it comes to wearing denim for this season!
