New year, new fashion trends!! It is always so fun to start a new year by seeing what fashion trends will burn out and which are here to stay. I rounded up 10 fashion trends that will be big this year- from accessories to jackets and everywhere in between. All of these trends have been seen recently on the runways, which means that all the fast fashion retailers will be picking up the trends soon, if they haven't already. So without further ado, here are 10 trends to watch for in 2022.
1. Workout Onesies
These one pieces are suddenly all the rage. What's great about them is that you don't have to pick out different pieces to go together, plus it won't slip down while you're working out like leggings sometimes do! This is a trend for working out- throw it on with sneakers and a cute sweatshirt and you can look put together and cute but totally appropriate for the gym. This can also be a casual outfit that you can throw any kind of jacket over- jean jacket, moto jacket, even a shacket- and boots for a suddenly cool street style look. An easy piece that looks cool and is super comfy!

2. Chain Belts
A chain belt is definitely more for looks than to actually hold anything up! You can wear a chain belt with jeans or jean shorts, and it looks really chic if some of the chain hangs down. You can put a chain belt over a dress which adds a little glam and helps show off your waist definition. You could even put a chain belt over a blazer to help define your waist. There is no wrong way to wear a chain belt and it helps add a polished vibe to the whole look. This is a perfect accessory if you don't want to wear a ton of jewelry because it helps dress your outfit up!

3. Cutouts
This is one of those trends that is continuing on to the next fashion season. Cutouts are a great trend for when the weather is warm. Cutouts in dresses can be really pretty and feminine, and are perfect for nights out! Another way that cutouts are starting to become popular is in tops. Just showing a little skin is tasteful and chic! This is a trend that overall is really feminine, so if you want to edge it up just try this trend with leather. Either a cutout top with leather pants, or even a cutout dress with combat boots! The perfect juxtaposition!

4. Boxy Jackets
This is another trend that isn't new, but continues to be fabulous. If you are going to do this trend, you need to make sure you do it correctly or else it will just look like your clothes aren't fitting correctly. My favorite way to style this trend is with an oversized, boxy blazer. The key to the oversized and boxy look, is to balance the look out underneath the blazer. Wear jeans or wide leg trousers with a tighter top that is tucked in. This way, you have waist definition. Keep the blazer open and you get the boyfriend/ oversized feel of the blazer while still being able to see your body shape!

5. Bright Bags
I am personally a big fan of this one. Adding a bright colored bag is the perfect way to instantly brighten any outfit. A colorful bag is such a great accessory, because it really pops and makes people notice your look. You can add a bright bag to any kind of look. It looks especially cool when you wear a monochrome outfit and add a bright bag. Or you can wear jeans and a graphic tee and sneakers with a bright color bag as a way to dress this trend down. There really is no right or wrong when it comes to a bag, and this is such an easy way to make your look more stylish!

6. Oversized Shirts
An oversized button down shirt is so elegant and chic no matter how you style it. I think this is a wardrobe basic that everyone should have, and it will never go out of style. That being said, it has recently been everywhere, and there are a million different ways to style this! You can wear an oversized button down over a mini skirt and belt it at the waist. Wear it with jeans or trousers and half tuck it. Wear it open over a bathing suit to the beach. Tie it up with a midi skirt. Tuck it all the way in for a polished and put together look. You can never go wrong with an oversized shirt.

7. Chunky Loafers
I think this is a newer trend that will be here to stay. Chunky loafers are the newest work appropriate footwear that is perfect for post pandemic life. This is a shoe that is totally appropriate to wear back to the office instead of pumps, and looks super cool with a trouser or a silky skirt. Not only is this the perfect shoe for work, but it is great for life too! Chunky loafers are comfortable (expect maybe when you are walking around all day) and look more elevated than a sneaker.

8. Slouchy Trousers
Trousers can be worn for more than just work these days! If you are going to pull off this trend, you have to do it with confidence. Wearing trousers casually gives off a laid back and super cool vibe. I love how it looks when you pair a graphic tee with trousers. You can layer on a bunch of necklaces too for a cool and casual vibe. Another way to style a slouchy trouser, is with a tight or cropped top. This way helps to balance out the wide slouch of the pants. A cool and easy trend if you want to look more laid back and cool!

9. Sequins
I know what you're thinking- sequins are for dressing up only! But that is not the case and sequins are actually an up and coming trend for 2022. Sequins are actually pretty easy to dress down. If you have a sequin jacket, throw it over a casual tee or a tank with jeans and combat boots. If you have a sequin skirt, a graphic tee and sneakers are perfect for a more casual look. Even sequin pants can be dressed down with a simple bodysuit. Sequins can also be pretty on a bag if you don't want to fully jump into this trend yet.

10. Mini Skirts
A mini skirt is a great trend to see for the new year because you can wear this all year round. In the cooler weather, a leather mini skirt is super cool and polished! You can wear it with tights and combat boots for a more casual look, or tights and pumps to dress it up more. A mini skirt also looks super fabulous with a tall boot. It helps to elongate your legs. In the warmer weather, you can wear a denim mini with sneakers and a tee! So many different ways to style a mini skirt dressed up or dressed down.
