As jean styles change, so does how we style them. The biggest question I have been hearing from people lately is, are skinny jeans out? My short answer is no and I even have skinny jeans that I still wear. But there are other styles of jeans that are becoming more popular. Wide leg jeans and longer lengths are making a comeback in the fashion world. Because of the changing denim lengths and styles, it can be super hard to figure out what shoes look best with each style of jean. There are no right or wrong answers, but this is a little guide to help you figure out what shoes look best with each kind of jean!
The Skinny Jean
As I said before, the skinny jean is in no way "out". Other styles are simply becoming more popular. I love the look of a skinny with a tall boot. The style of tall boot right now that works best is a western look that has a little heel. It is super elongating!! Another style that looks amazing with a skinny is a combat boot. This is a classic look that will forever be chic. A combat boot with skinny jeans can also be worn super causal, or a little more elevated. For a more transitional/ summer shoe that would look chic with skinny jeans, I recommend a mule. Pointy toed mules are the most flattering and make you look taller, but any kind of mule works! The long look of a mule works well with the skinny leg of the jean!
The Straight Leg
With a straight leg jean, I love a little bit of height. For a more casual look, go with a sneaker. To take the look and make it a little more chic, opt for a platform sneaker, or a sneaker that gives you a little height. This will do wonders in elongating your legs and looks flattering with the shape of the jean. Another shoe that works awesome with a straight leg jean is a pointy toe heel. This is a classy and chic way to style your jeans. Perfect for an event, work, or a nice dinner out! My favorite shoe to pair with a straight leg jean for fall and winter is a sock bootie. The idea is that the shaft of the bootie is a little tighter and goes up under the leg of the jean. This is a really easy and cute way to wear boots and is totally flattering.
The Wide Leg
The look of a wide leg jean is everywhere right now, and I think this style will continue to be popular for a while. This is another one that can be worn with sock booties for an easy fall look. Or any boot that is tight in the shaft! Wearing a boot that has a pointy toe is also slimming and makes your legs look longer! The perfect fall shoe/ jean combo. Another look that I love with a wider leg jean is a chunky loafer. This looks really chic and can be dressed up or down. Wear a chunky loafer, wide leg jeans, and an oversized blazer and you are work appropriate and chic. If you want a more casual look, I love a sneaker with a wide leg jeans that has a longer toe box. This just means a longer looking shoe instead of wide. An example would be like a Tretorn sneaker.
The Bootcut
Bootcut jeans are making a comeback and I can honestly say I think I need a pair. The idea of a bootcut jean is that you want the jean to just graze the floor or hit right above it. The just makes your legs look insanely long and makes you look effortlessly chic. That being said, the shoe you pick isn't nearly as important for this style of jean as it is for others. I would definitely focus on some sort of shoe with a heel though. A pointy toed heel, a heeled bootie, even a clog would work! Anything that gives you height and allows your jeans to hang long works wonders! This look is SO sleek and will look good on everyone!!
Which jean and shoe combo is your favorite??
