If you know me, you know I have been going to work events a lot lately. For each event, I struggle to find the right balance of professional while also fashionable and cool. I've learned that there is no trick to a perfect outfit, that it is really about how you feel in the outfit. In my opinion, when you feel really good in an outfit it makes you feel really confident which is perfect for those professional situations. I am here to help make dressing for these events easier and more fun. Because no one wants to be last minute shopping if they don't feel good in anything they own. Trust me, we've all been there.
In reality, there are all kinds of work events you could get invited to where the dress code changes. I am focusing today on more casual events (where jeans are appropriate), and events where you don't want to wear a jean, but you aren't breaking out the cocktail dress. And in a situation where you don't know what to where, I would totally rather be overdressed than under dressed. So here are 8 ideas for different work events in your future!
Jeans + Tee + Blazer + Loafer
This is for a more casual event where you still want to look put together and professional without being overdressed. You can never go wrong with a blazer, but the jeans and tee dresses it down a little. A chunky loafer is a great shoe to pair with this outfit because the heaviness of the shoe balances out the length of an oversized blazer. I would tuck or tie the tee to add a little more coolness to the look!

Jeans + Blouse + Pump
A step up from blue jeans, but can be as dressy as you want to make it. A blouse is super feminine, so add a combat boot to dress the look down. If you want to look a little nicer, pair the blouse with a sleek pump. I think this look is super modern and classy when you use simple colors and then add a fun shoe/ earring. You can make this look totally your own by wearing any kind of blouse with any kind of jean!!

Jumpsuit + Blazer + Bootie
A jumpsuit is always a safe bet, especially when you aren't quite sure what the dress code is. It can be totally casual if you throw on a cute pair of sneakers. This look can also be dressed up and classy looking with a tight ankle bootie. I love this look (this is what I wore to my work event this week) because you are still super comfortable while looking sleek. This looks great when you layer on necklaces and add a fun bag too!

Black Trouser + Sweater + Heel
The perfect cold weather outfit for any event! A trouser is professional and appropriate for anything, and adding a cute sweater makes it perfect for the winter. The beauty of a long trouser, is that you can wear any shoe. I recommend some sort of bootie or heel, so that the pants just skim the floor. This makes your legs look miles long! This is a really simple look, but it will always look really chic. Tuck in the sweater to show off your waist too!

Patterned Pants + Turtleneck Tank + Leather Jacket + Heel
I love the different vibes of this outfit. It all works together to look really cool and sleek. The patterned pant look really good with the tight turtleneck tank, because they balance each other out. The heel adds some height and makes you look long and lean. If you were going to a really nice event, you could swap out the leather jacket for a blazer to make it more of a suit, but I love the juxtaposition of a leather jacket with a trouser. It is so effortlessly chic, and the vibes all work together to create the perfect outfit for a work event!

Pants // Turtleneck // Leather Jacket // Heel // Earrings
Slip Dress + Cardigan + Boot
This is a look that always looks polished. A slip dress is appropriate for any kind of event, and adding a cozy cardigan over it makes it look more feminine and sweet. If you think the dress is just hanging there, add a belt to show off your waist! A tall boot is also the perfect way to wear this in the cooler weather, and adds another area of interest to your outfit. This is a great go to outfit if you ever find yourself looking for an evening event look!

Skirt + Slouchy Sweater + Sock Bootie
Similar vibes to the slip dress, a midi skirt is a great look for work. Adding a slouchy sweater on top gives it a casual but good look. I love how a sock bootie looks with a skirt for an event, because it gives height from the heel and lays nicely under the skirt. Adding a pattern to the skirt or a fun color to the bag are easy ways to make this look original but still look put together and stylish!

Mini Dress + OTK Boot + Leather Blazer
For those work events where jeans are too casual, and you don't think a skirt and sweater is nice enough, this is a look that might work for you! A mini dress just means not a midi or maxi... this does not mean super short where it isn't appropriate for a professional setting! I love the look of a floral dress with an over the knee boot. It is kind of edgy, kind of feminine. With the leather blazer, try to find an oversized one that is the same length as the dress! Classy, feminine, and super chic!
